Trying to Stay Focused

It's like trying to get three kids to look at a camera!

A couple weeks back I said that my word of the year was going to be 'Focus'. So, now, in all honesty and to keep myself accountable, I am going to admit that my focus completely flew away the past few days. I'm still doing better than before, but this is my reminder to keep it together. This is especially important with another baby on the way! How in the world I am going to manage three kids is beyond my comprehension right now, but I'm trusting that some miracle will happen and my other two children will have behavioral transformations and become calm and cooperative soon.

(If anyone knows how to make this miracle take place please let me know. I talked to some gypsies the other day but they ran off after they saw my kids playing in the backyard. Who knows why.)

For now, I know at least one of them is napping. And the other one's quiet. And that's really all I can ask for.

FYI-The middle kid in above picture is not mine. He's my nephew, but they're often mistaken for siblings. He is quieter than my kids though, most of the time. But that could just be because I'm a mean aunt. =D

Show your kids some science with items you probably have right now.

  • 1/8 cup of unpopped popcorn kernels
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup of white vinegar

What you do:

  1. Mix baking soda and water in the clear container
  2. Add corn kernels
  3. Pour in vinegar--do this part in or near the sink. I'm surprised mine didn't ...

Pancake and Sausage Muffins

A make-ahead weekday breakfast

This year one of my goals was to make more and buy less, at least when it comes to convenience foods.  My kids love Pancakes on a Stick, a pancake wrapped around a breakfast sausage on a stick.  I can't blame them, I love anything on a stick!

Since I couldn't figure out how to make those on a stick I turned them into muffins.  They freeze great, just like the store bought kind, and you can make a ton at one time.  Both bonuses for our busy ...

This year I am determined to have my kids make their own Valentines.  Every year I say we are going to do this, and every year we are those people standing in the Valentine aisle at the grocery store picking through the left over boxes of valentines.  Well not this year.  This year, thanks to my Pinterest addiction, I have been inspired.  There are so many wonderful ideas out there that I just couldn't miss out on ...
