You won't want to miss one of the most popular annual summer events in Northwest Arkansas, the Firefly Fling at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 6:00 PM-10:00 PM. Over the last few years, this unique event has grown and evolved into the highlight of summer for many area families. Each year, the Festival gets bigger and better as hundreds of local families come out to enjoy an evening of outdoor family-friendly fun and entertainment. Macaroni Kid-Fayetteville will join Amazeum, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Hobbs State Park and Ozark Natural Science Center offering nature adventures & activities for families for in many areas of the garden.
Performances from "Shaky Bugs" and Fairy Willow return to entertain & delight children this year, and this year Fairy Willow will have a new home just outside of the Children’s Garden that will include an interactive wishing tree. Near the Reading Railroad, the children’s play area will include SandScape and a Stone Stack Challenge. Enjoy small stage music from Candy Lee & The Sweets and by Sugar on the Floor, and a Hoop party with Merrily Spins.
Another addition to Firefly this year will be family lawn games to play in the dark.  The Firefly Shoppe will sell wings, halos, wands, and glow-in-the-dark items that will be fun to wear or use for the games.  Before dark, families can enjoy up close experiences with local musicians and story-tellers, including story telling by Janis Duley, throughout the garden.
Firefly’s grand finale after dark is always a highly anticipated part of the festival.  This year’s Great Lawn performances will feature an aerialist performing on silks, a new fire spinning presentation by Violetta Lotus Fireflies, and an illuminated hooping show.
Families may bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnics. Tropical Smoothie will be selling food and Yarnell’s will offer ice cream, and the Botanical Garden will offer soft drinks & water.
Admission to Firefly Fling is just $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 3 to 13 and free for children under 3. Tickets are available online here , by calling 479-750-2620 or at the door on July 19.

Our summer festival invites adults and children to discover and explore all that nature has to offer. The phrase of the day is to “unplug and get outside”. Adults reconnect with their own nature memories and children fully engage themselves with new adventures, inspiring learning that lasts a lifetime.
Come join me at Firefly Fling for a wonderful event and make memories that last a lifetime.
