Take a Bite Out of Hunger- Eat Out to Raise $ for NWA Food Bank

By Kara Ault, Macaroni Kid Fayetteville Publisher October 11, 2017
Here's a simple way to make a difference in September! This month, NWA Food Bank's initiative, Take A Bite Out of Hunger -- is just one way for individuals and families to get involved in September’s Hunger Action Month by dining out at one of 21 restaurants in the area. Participating restaurants will donate a percentage of their proceeds to the Food Bank for a particular day, said Travis Sorensen, development coordinator. Diners are asked to let the wait staff at the restaurant know they are there for the Food Bank’s Take a Bite Out of Hunger campaign. “We want to provide a simple way for anyone to get engaged in the fight to combat hunger,” Mike Williams, director of development, said about the month-long event.

NWA Food Bank partners with 150+ local non-profit agencies to distribute food to individuals and families in need. NWA Food Bank distributed 11.45 million pounds of food and 8.8 million meals in 2016 through more than 150 allied agencies.

Take a break from cooking and head out to one of these local restaurants (be sure to mention you are there for the Take a Bite Out of Hunger Campaign) and help raise funds that support the mission of NWA Food Bank.

"No single person or single agency can fight hunger alone. We need everyone in the community to step up and play a role to help fight hunger in Northwest Arkansas. Hunger Action Month is an effort to inform our community about the issue of food insecurity and provide a simple way to get involved in the fight against hunger."- Mike Williams, director of development at the Food Bank.
