My kids are out of school for the summer starting today and what better way to kick off summer than with after-school ice cream treats? May is such a busy month around here and I'm grateful for anything that saves a little time in my busy schedule. That's why I decided to try Walmart's Online Grocery Pickup today to purchase some ice cream treats my kids & their friends could enjoy.

This was my first time trying out Walmart's Online Grocery Pickup service. I've heard so many mom friends rave about how much they love it and how easy it is to use. The entire process, start to finish, was very simple and I am so glad I tried it. It's so simple, in fact, that I ordered my groceries while at the gym today and even though it was my first time ordering, it took me less than 10 minutes to shop, check out and choose a time for pickup!

Want to try Walmart Online Grocery Pickup?

-The first step is to download the free Walmart Grocery app from Google Play or the iTunes store. Alternately, you can use the website to order: https://goo.gl/1d4mMt

- Create a Walmart.com account if you don't already have one.  Enter your zip code.  This will pull up the choices of Walmart stores in your area that offer this service. I live in Prairie Grove so for me the closest store offering this service is about 10 miles away, at the Walmart on MLK. You may be thinking it must cost more for this convenience and I'm happy to tell you it doesn't. There is no markup and the items cost the same as they would in the store. There is a minimum amount of $30 that you have to spend to use this service, but don't we all spend that grocery shopping anyway?

The ordering screen is very simple & self-explanatory. It makes suggestions for you of items you may like, but you can easily click the magnifying glass to search for the groceries you want. When you are finished shopping, you pick a convenient time to pick up your order (Times are usually available as early as within a few hours) and that is it!  Grocery pickup can be scheduled seven days a week and up to 3 weeks in advance.  If you change your mind on something or want to add or delete an item, it is quick and easy to edit your order, and you will get a new confirmation email detailing your order items. (TIP: Try promo code WOWFRESH to get $10 off your first order!)

After checking out, you will receive email updates when you order has been received, confirmation if you make any changes, and an email letting you know when it's ready for pickup. You can also choose to receive Text message updates, which is what I did, and this was really great because I received a text saying my order was ready and to "Check in" when I head to the store. I clicked "Check In" as I was about to leave my home and it let the staff at Walmart Grocery Pickup know that I'd arrive in approximately 15 minutes.

When I pulled into Walmart, I followed the very clearly marked signs for the Pick-Up lane and parked in one of the designated pick-up spaces on the side of the store. There is a phone number posted in front of the lane so if you didn't check in first, you can call them to let them know you are there for your order. Since I had checked in, they showed up at my car within just a few minutes.

The employee who delivered my order was so courteous and kind and to my surprise, you receive a welcome gift with your first order, so I got a bag full of great sample products and some coupons.

For our Kick Off Summer treats, I had ordered an assortment of Klondike Bars: Klondike Crunch, Klondike Reese's, a box of 20 Rainbow Popsicles and a carton of the new Breyer's 2-in-1 Heath/ Waffle Cone Ice Cream. I did not bring an ice chest and wondered if my ice cream would make it home without melting but as you can see in this video, it did not melt and was still perfect for us to enjoy!

We had a few neighbor kids and friends over this afternoon to enjoy these frozen treats with us, and they all really enjoyed trying the different flavors while celebrating the beginning of summer! I personally really loved the Klondike Reese's bars! A few of the neighbor kids and friends managed to eat the whole carton of the 2-in-1 Heath/ Waffle Cone ice cream because they loved it so much. The younger kids loved the rainbow Popsicles.

Walmart Online Grocery Pick Up was such a simple and convenient way for me to pick up some end of the school year ice cream treats. Over the summer, it will be a great way to pick up more treats, without having to drag everyone into the store or spend time shopping when we'd rather be at the pool.  We'll just order and go!

If you haven't tried this free service from Walmart yet, I highly recommend trying it. It is life-changing and you'll be so glad you did!
