Ever have the feeling that while you adore your kids, you really just need a mom's night out with friends? We all do, and even if you are a new mom and haven't left the baby yet, there will come a time when you know you need a little break from that sweet babe. Big Box Karaoke in Fayetteville is the perfect spot for an affordable, fun night with your friends.
I'd heard about this place from several friends and knew they offered private suite karaoke, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find out they are a full restaurant as well. Owners Mailena and Justin Urso worked as Engish teachers while living in Japan for a few years, and private suite karaoke was a concept they fell in love with while there. They have brought this unique twist on karaoke to Fayetteville and I highly recommend it.
I was joined at my Mom's Night Out by 4 friends and we all met there on a Tuesday night. I had never done karaoke before and have always said I would never do it in front of a crowd because I admittedly do not have a good singing voice..lol. The fact that the karaoke at Big Box is done only in private suites really appealed to me since I knew the only ones that would hear me would be my friends.
We each ordered an entree from their Asian food menu, which you can see here. I had the Char Sui Soba Noodles. They were absolutely delicious! A couple of my friends ordered the Kimchi Tots and really liked them.
Our server was so friendly and kind, and she walked us into our party room and showed us where everything was and how to use it. It's all very simple and each person in your group can pull up a website on their phone and add songs of their choice to the queue for karaoke. We laughed a lot over our variety of chosen songs. We had TLC, Prince, George Strait, Eminem, and Dolly Parton, just to name a few. In 2 hours of karaoke, we didn't even make it through our whole list! After the first couple of songs, we all relaxed and started taking turns singing with the microphones and laughing with and at each other, all in fun! This one is my foster sister Toni and I doing our best rendition of a song:
The room seating is comfortable and the server was very attentive. She checked on us periodically and brought refills for drinks and answered any questions we had. I love the layout of the room, and the words on the screen are easy to read, but also invoked laughter as we realized in some songs the lyrics we had never understood correctly. We were in a regular sized party suite, but Big Box does have a large party room that can set at least 25 people.
I asked my friends for their feedback after our night out. Janda said "I enjoyed the room's privacy because it made it really easy and more encouraging for me to get involved. The service was really friendly and attentive and the instruments it the room made it extra fun. The method of choosing songs was also super user-friendly." Adell said "The Char Sui was delicious! The staff was super friendly and I got to be the rock star I've always wanted to be!":) and Toni said "I really liked the privacy of the rooms, the variety of songs to choose from (There are thousands!) and the food." Brea said she felt like with a little more practice at Big Box Karaoke, she could audition for The Voice. ha ha
