Family Network's mission is to meet the needs of families in Northwest Arkansas for individualized parenting education and support.
Who we are:
We are a dedicated team of parent-educators that work to serve our local Northwest Arkansas community and their families. Family Network’s home visiting model is accredited through Healthy Families America, a national, evidence-based Home Visiting system that believes in early, nurturing relationships as the foundation for healthy development.
We believe there is no better investment in a community than an investment in healthy families so that children experience positive, nurturing environments in those critical first years of life.
We enroll families prenatally or at the birth of their child, and can serve them for 3 years. The program is completely voluntary and free: we're funded by grants and individual donors.
We completed were 994 home visits in 2020, and we have 44 families enrolled. 53% of participants are between the ages of 16-19 years old.
Our newest program is the Diaper Collective!
It was launched in September 2020 in partnership with Bread of Life Food Pantry. Our model is to partner with existing nonprofit organizations that are already serving families and children and distribute diapers to them monthly to give to their clients.
Diaper need is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby clean, dry and healthy, and it’s a reality in our community. 1 in 3 US families reports experiencing diaper need. Infants can require up to 12 diapers a day, and disposable diapers can cost $70 to $80 dollars per month per child.
Currently, no state or federal dollars are allocated to help parents with diapers, which means you can’t purchase diapers with WIC of SNAP benefits. Oftentimes parents are forced to miss work or school because they don’t have sufficient diapers for their child.
That is why the Diaper Collective has formed; we want to work hard to see diaper need eliminated in our community.
We are partnered with 5 agencies currently: Bread of Life Food Pantry, Canopy NWA, Helen Walton Child Enrichment Center, Potters House Kids, and the Manna Center. We've had requests from over 23 organizations in NWA to partner to receive diapers and plan to continue to increase our partnerships as we increase capacity.
We are currently distributing over 2,000 diapers monthly-getting diapers directly into the hands of families in NWA. Help us raise 75,000 diapers to get into the hands of families in need in Northwest Arkansas.
