Make Cards for Local Veterans: A Great Way for Kids to Volunteer

By Kara Ault, Macaroni Kid Fayetteville Publisher January 6, 2022

One thing I have discovered that kids really enjoy, no matter how young they are, is to feel like they are making a difference and helping others. No child is too young to participate- even toddlers can color with assistance. Homemade cards are a great way to show appreciation to our Veterans who are hospitalized. This is a great project for families with young children or young people that like to make hand-made cards and it is a great at-home project considering the COVID pandemic.

Cards can be mailed or hand-delivered. They can be a "Thank you for your Service" or a holiday card.  National Salute to Veterans Day is Feb 14 so Valentines are requested. (but please no glitter or chalk on cards).

Please deliver or send your cards to the attention of Voluntary Services at the following address:

VA Medical Center, 1100 N. College Ave, Fayetteville, AR 72703.

If you would like to deliver the cards in person to some veterans in the hospital, please make prior arrangements by contacting Voluntary Services. (Building Three, First Floor).  If you are part of a group sending cards, please include the name of your group so they can send you a thank you.
