Fun, Characters and Luxury Combine at Nickelodeon Resort Riviera Maya

New Karisma Resort in Cancun Offers All-inclusive Luxury and Flashbacks of Childhood Fun!

By Kara Ault, Macaroni KID Fayetteville and Rogers-Bentonville Publisher July 7, 2022

On a Macaroni KID publisher press trip to Cancun in 2019 I had the opportunity for a hard hat tour of the Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, which was under construction at the time.

We could see how amazing it was going to be once finished and couldn't wait for it to be open!

The author was hosted by the resort for the purposes of this review. All opinions are her own.

So when I got an email in May offering me the chance to join 29 other Macaroni KID publishers at the now completed resort, I knew I couldn't pass it up.

As a kid in the 90s, I watched Mark Sommers on the Nickelodeon™ Show "Double Dare." My favorite part of the show was the green slime. Watching the contestant have green slime dumped on their head when they lost a competition always made me laugh and I can remember thinking how much fun it would be to be "slimed."

Later, the Ninja Turtles took over our living room TV when my little cousins visited. They loved everything about Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo. Even their birthday parties had to be Ninja Turtle-themed.

I flew from XNA into Dallas and then onto Cancun and took a quick 25-minute ride to the resort.

We spent three nights enjoying and exploring the resort. The developers of Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya have obviously put so much thought into the design and amenities of this place, ensuring that luxury intertwines with fun characters and experiences that take you back to your childhood.

Since opening in 2021, the resort has been offering the fun Aqua Nick experience —  a six-acre Nickelodeon™ themed water park with 21 slides! Guests of Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya enjoy complimentary unlimited access to Aqua Nick.

They have a lazy river if you feel like relaxing in a tube as you float around the resort, and an adventure river if you are wanting something a little faster. Small rapids surprise you in the adventure river!

The resort features 280 oceanfront swim-up suites to accommodate families of five. Unlike your typical hotel rooms, each suite has two full bathrooms! No more waiting for someone to get out of the shower so the kids can go to the bathroom in the morning!

There are 3 specialty-themed suites that can accommodate seven people including The Lair, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Suite. My favorite part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Suite was the 710 sq ft ocean-front terrace, featuring this amazing Turtle Shell "playhouse" with TVs and comfortable seating.

If you are looking for a fun, all-inclusive resort where kids of all ages and adults can have a wonderful time, check out Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya in Cancun.
