Northwest Arkansas’ A Cappella Festival: VoiceJam Returns to Walton Arts Center
Does your family enjoy watching reality singing shows like “The Masked Singer,” “American Idol” and “The Voice?” Do you love the movie Pitch Perfect? Then don’t miss your chance to see an a cappella competition LIVE on stage at Walton Arts Center on Saturday, April 15.
The VoiceJam Competition is the culmination of a weekend of festival activities – starting with a headliner concert on Friday, April 14 by the award-winning bass-and-beatbox-driven funk/pop vocal group Duwendé. This six-member professional ensemble is known for their fiercely original take on a cappella music, pumping up the crowd with upbeat, electrifying sounds that replicate a variety of instruments – using only their voices.
That same day, six groups from around the country will descend on Northwest Arkansas to prepare for an aca-filled weekend. These groups were selected as the best of the best to battle it out in the VoiceJam Competition:
VIBE - Dallas, TX
Walk the Line - Rockwall High School in Rockwell, TX
Trillium - Dallas, TX
A-Side - A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, TX
Mind The Gap - University of Oregon in Eugene, OR
Euphoria - Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI
The contestants will spend their day leading up to the Competition in workshops and one-on-ones with vocal instructors and professional musicians to hone their craft before going on stage at Walton Arts Center, where they’ll harmonize, beatbox, and belt their way to the top. Only one will be crowned champion. Bring your family and cast your vote for aca-fan favorite!
NEW THIS YEAR! Walton Arts Center has created its first-ever vocal band, WACappella. This 14-member group of Northwest Arkansas natives blew us away with their vocal talent and will be making their debut during judges’ deliberations at the VoiceJam Competition.
Tickets to the headliner concert by Duwendé on Friday, April 14 are just $10 apiece. Tickets to the VoiceJam Competition on Saturday, April 15 are $29.
