On May 11, 2024, Kendrick Fincher Hydration for Life (KFHfL) invites you to lace up your sneakers for a cause that's both vital and heartwarming. Our 26th annual Race to Hydrate 5k & Youth Run offers an exhilarating opportunity to support our mission: to educate on proper hydration and prevent heat illness, a cause born from the tragic loss of Kendrick Fincher in 1995. Kendrick was a 13-year-old in Rogers who died 18 days after developing heatstroke as a complication of improper hydration during a summer football practice.
The Race to Hydrate is more than a run; it's a family festival of fun and fitness. Younger participants can revel in the excitement of the Youth Run or the Toddler Trot, ensuring everyone, from the littlest to the fastest, can join in. Post-race, the celebration continues with an array of refreshments, character appearances for delightful photo ops, and a fun zone that promises endless entertainment for all ages.
Every stride taken and every laugh shared at the Race to Hydrate underscores our collective effort to champion hydration awareness and heat illness prevention. The funds raised are pivotal in advancing KFHfL’s initiatives, from educating our youth in schools to equipping athletes with the necessary tools to stay hydrated. Register your family for the Race to Hydrate here.
Go ahead and mark your calendars for their awesome Fall event as well, the NWA Blaster Bash, a community Nerf Battle, on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Ward Nail Park in Lowell. This event will be an awesome day of community, camaraderie, and competition. Join us, and together, let’s make strides towards a world where heat illness is no longer a threat to our active lives.
The Kendrick Fincher Memorial Foundation was developed by Kendrick's mother Rhonda to ensure children have proper hydration during athletic activities and that they have squeeze bottles with them at all events.
