Our Fun & Free Field Trip to Rogers Historical Museum

Great Summer Day Trip!

By Kara Ault, Macaroni Kid- Fayetteville Publisher July 2, 2015
I took my 5 year old daughter, Kinley, on a fun field trip to the Rogers Historical Museum in downtown Rogers last week. Admission to the museum is completely FREE and we really enjoyed the museum. If you haven't visited this Northwest Arkansas treasure, I highly recommend making a trip!
Kinley really loved the children's area. The museum's theme is "Where kids can build, imagine & discover their way to a better understanding of history" and this is absolutely true.
The Museum, located at 322 S Second Street in Rogers, has many hands-on exhibits for all ages. The staff is so friendly and they encourage kids to touch, explore & ask questions.  We stayed for an hour and Kinley did not want to leave!
The children's area features Grandpa's Workshop, with tools kids can build with, pipes they can connect, blocks they can build with and more.

There is an actual old Rogers jail cell and the kids can step inside the cell for a picture.

There is even an interactive police sign with buttons kids can press to make the siren sound.
Also on hand is an antique sewing machine & typewriter that the kids are welcome & encouraged to touch & play with, a dress up area with vintage clothing, and a brand new exhibit called Rogers Fun & Games that opened last week and highlights recreational activities in Rogers from the past.

Behind the Children's area, you'll find a replica of old downtown Rogers in the past. You'll see what a general store, a barber shop & more would have looked like years ago and what they would have been furnished with as well.

The museum is open from 10 AM- 5 PM on Mondays, 10 AM- 8 PM on Tuesdays (they often have special family events on Tues nights), 10 AM- 5 PM on Wed- Sat and on Sundays from 1-5 PM.
This wonderful museum offers a lot to our community. They have Summer Storytimes for kids age 4-8, Art With Ashley events for teens, and Tuesday After 8 special events for families. You can find information on all of their family-friendly events on our calendar.
